Being in Detroit often, I have heard about The Cook’s Shop and always wanted try it, but never made the quick trip to Windsor.
My last trip to Detroit I decided to change things up and stay in Windsor (Just across the River from the BEST city in the USA)! When I knew I was staying in Windsor guess what…Yep first thing called to make a reso at The Cook’s Shop (Not just saying that either, the FIRST THING)! A menu full of all the Italian favorites with some twists and turns only a Family Owned restaurant can pull off and I wasn’t going to miss it!
Sometimes if feels like I can only Food Dream of being able to eat at that Once in a Lifetime Restaurant…and then the Food Dream Comes TRUE at The Cook’s Shop.

The Cooks Shop Restaurant Windsor Restaurants Reviews – Like no other restaurant I have been in! Small and when I say you need a reso, this is why.
4 Tops set up all over the restaurant with their own ‘almost alone in a room feeling’ is something you will never see in any other restaurant.
Even the table setting reminded me of Grandma’s house on that Sunday afternoon with that country table cloth, napkin and a stomach ready for that home made GOODNESS!
AMAZING is all I can say!
Server: The key here is they want you to stay and ENJOY! That is the first thing our server expressed. “The Reason you have a reso, is you can enjoy your night. “We don’t turn tables like the other restaurants, so relax and enjoy your night with us”! WHAT did she just say? I have never heard that in any restaurant (I have owned restaurants and I don’t think I said that to any one)!
Management/Chef: Never met management, but asked and was told the whole story. Thanks for not only creating a one of a kind place to eat, but keeping the tradition for over 38 years. Amazing Staff!

When asked what are you hungry for I looked at the menu and said ALL OF IT! Not kidding, Fresh Pasta (separate pasta station dedicated to the Al-Dente Pasta and Sauce) to Steaks and Lamb Chops! This was the first time in a long time, where I didn’t know what to get. The entire menu is AWESOME!
You start out with an amazing Romaine lettuce salad. When walking in, I saw another table enjoying the salad, and it looked amazing. I was assured that is part of the Dinner “YEAH ME”!
Served family style in a bowl with whole Romaine hearts, fresh Croutons, Dressing and a side of Fresh Pepper. “This is how I am going to serve salad from now on”
Who can have Caesar Salad with out the ultimate pairing of Garlic Bread! We can’t pass up the Fresh Garlic bread as this is great for munching on during the entire dinner.
We move on to the Pasta! A great Meat Tortellini made fresh and served in the mixing bowl! Awesome Touch…
“I watched a Chef make this with my own eyes”! Anytime you can get FRESH TORTELLINI, do…You won’t be disappointed.
You know I love me some Lamb Chops! I went back and forth with our Awesome Waitress on what to get and she kept coming back to the Lamb Chops. I am a sucker for Lamb Chops and I wanted to try something The Cook’s Shop was famous for, so Yep Lamb Chops it is!
One.. Amazing, Two.. Huge Portion, back to One.. Amazing. Not Gamy, Not over Seasoned, No Crazy Sauces, just that perfectly cooked Lamb Chop! Did I say it was AMAZING!
I will be back to try some of my other “I WANT THAT” menu items, but for now thankful I got to experience on of the BEST Restaurants in Canada, and maybe one of the best in the WORLD!
